Interviewing - speed dating style!

The 3rd July saw us host the first of four #EmployerMeets we have scheduled for this year.

The event held at Kāpiti College was focused on connecting local youth preparing to transition into the workforce and employers.

The event also provided valuable interview experience for youth in a safe and secure environment, allowing them to practice interview techniques and develop the necessary skills to best demonstrate their capabilities.

With great local support, businesses present included: Pzazz Building, Goodman Contractors, Kiwibank, PomPom Events & Marketing, GTB IT Solutions, Kāpiti Colour Painting Services, Kāpiti Coast Funeral Home, C&C Plumbing & Gas, Chroma Coaching and Mike Lynds - Financial Broker.

Georgia Baird of Kāpiti Colour Painting Services commented, “I think it’s a great chance for business owners and tradies to put their tools down and wear a different hat for the evening, getting to chat face to face in a relaxed non-work environment is such a great opportunity for everyone! The event was very positive in helping to build the confidence in young people. “

Students had 10 minute interviews with employers from industries of their choosing and managed to fit 5 interviews in each throughout the event.

Bryan Gundersen, Chair of Work Ready Kāpiti commented, it was great to see so many students leave having made really positive connections with local employers that may lead to future job opportunities.

The next #EmployerMeet is scheduled for the 14/08/2019 at Paraparaumu College, registration is essential as the event is filling up fast, click here and complete the simple form to sign up.
