We currently run three programmes aimed at assisting Kāpiti youth in TRANSITIONING into the workforce:
Kāpiti Work Ready Passport
Work experience programme - WEX
Our events - #EmployeerMeets and our annual Awards event.
KĀPITI WORK READY PASSPORT
These distinctive orange books have been designed to help Kāpiti youth between the ages of 16-25 to develop skills that local employers are seeking.
Working through an array of topics, you will be able to identify your strengths and provide evidence of your skills and experience.
If you are an employer and considering hiring a young person, the passport is a great tool to assist in demonstrating a young job seeker’s skills and experience, making it easier for you to asses their suitability.
The passport covers:
Valid driver's’ license or transport arrangements
Health, safety and well-being
Budgeting and money management.
If you are interested in completing a Work Ready Passport please speak to your local college.

WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME - WEX
Proven work experience has been identified by employers as advantageous to being work ready and therefore helpful in finding employment. It also assists with identifying employment pathways for the future and is useful to put on your CV and you may even get a referee from the experience!
Our work experience programme - WEX is aimed at 16-25 year olds and runs during the school holiday periods.
There is a minimum commitment required of 3 days during a 2 week holiday, however placements may run for longer.
We liaise with local employers to secure a diverse and exciting range of placements and local colleges support us in the vetting and matching of youth to suitable placements.
If you are interested in completing a placement for a local employer, please discuss this further with your college.
However, if you are not currently attending a local college this does not disqualify you from applying, simply contact us to discuss this further.
We have an exciting series of events each year aimed at connecting youth with local business owners/perspective employers.
These are speed-dating style events, with a variety of local business owners meeting with multiple young job seekers over the course of the evening.
Young job seekers are registered and matched to employers ahead of the event and then on the evening complete a series of meetings with their selected employers.
It’s a great event to build interview experience, as well as provide useful connections that may lead to a future job opportunity.
If you would like to attend one of these events, please speak with your local college or if you are not currently attending a college please contact us for further information.
Annual Awards event
This event is held every year and recognises excellence within both the young job seekers that have been through our programmes and also within our business community - for those involved in a employer capacity.
It’s a fantastic event that creates the space to take a moment and take stock of all the accomplishments of the year passed.
