#EmployerMeets

Want to help rangatahi in your community?

These are speed-meet style events, with a variety of local business owners meeting with multiple young people over the course of the evening.

When youth complete their registration, they select which employers or careers they are interested in. This allows them the opportunity to explore new possible career pathways, gain valuable interview experience by talking to employers as well as make useful connections. These connections may lead to a future job opportunity.

These #EmployerMeets are held at Kāpiti College, Paraparaumu College, Ōtaki College, as well as a community location event held at the Kāpiti Impact Hub.

What People Are Saying

“This is not an event to find new staff (although I have been very fortunate to find numerous staff via these events on a long term basis), but moreover is to help youth be confident talking to employers about themselves.  How can we expect youth to thrive and flourish, if we don't give them time to learn how to present themselves in this space.”

— Ruth Surrey (Monkeyman Tree Services)

“It was awesome to see so many local industries getting involved in the #EmployerMeets! Young people in Kapiti have a huge range of employment opportunities and it is inspiring to see how many youth are taking the experience seriously. A refreshing insight into the passion of our future industry leaders.”

— Samantha Chambers (FunZone)

“My favourite part of an #EmployerMeet is meeting rangatahi, telling them my work stories and seeing their eyes light up with interest. I would tell other employers thinking of getting involved that the #EmployerMeet is a very welcoming environment and that they will be investing in our future.”

- Shelby Bothamley
